JK!!!!!
We were a little overwhelmed at how much we had to prepare for our presentations. We may have accidentally overbooked ourselves with how many presentations we agreed to do. To be fair, it was our first day on the job and we were all still so jet lagged!
We were able to get everything done though, as we knew we would.
To continue from last night's blog---- we ended up getting ready bed shortly after the power went out because our computers were dying and we had no light (besides for Nat's headlamps, of course). We got ready for bed and tucked ourselves into the mosquito net. We had a heck of a time trying to remember which lights we had left "on" for when the power came back on. After brushing our teeth and settling in, we had a GREAT SURPRISE! The power popped back on after being off for over an hour! We immediately leapt out of bed and decided to continue working on our power points and education materials, despite it being 11pm. We found out we did not do as good of a job as we thought of turning out the lights, oops.
We woke up today (Saturday morning) refreshed and ready to work. It was 11pm "minnesota" time. After face timing with Kari C from work and some of the other girls (Hey Station 88!), my parents and sister, and Brittany's boyfriend John, we got down to business.
For as silly as we can be, we were able to focus pretty easily. We were able to complete:
1. Kari and Brittany's "big" powerpoint of 1/2 of their common cancers they most frequently see (to be presented on Tuesday over 3 hours for approx 50 nurses)
2. Kari and Brittany's "big" powerpoint of 1/2 of the oncologic emergencies (to also be presented at the same Tuesday over 3 hours for the 50 nurses)
3. Extravasation powerpoint to be presented to the Cancer Care Nurses for the short 20 min morning meeting they do
4. Displays of all the tubing to be presented to the Cancer Care Nurses for their short 20 min morning meeting
5. Kari and Brittany's one hour powerpoint to ALL the nurses in the hospital, they do a Tuesday morning meeting- this is a condensed version of the oncologic emergencies
6. Nat's powerpoints for the cancers that will be presented on Wednesday, for the 3 hour presentation for 50 nurses
7. Nat and Cari's "big" powerpoint for safe handling, what is cancer, what what is chemo? That will be presented on both Monday for 3 hours, and a condensed version for Tuesday morning meeting for ALL the nurses 1 hour presentation.
More next time!
Heading to a waterfall!
Kari
